Boston is one of America’s oldest cities. It is at the heart of the region known as the birthplace of American Democracy. It is also rich in history and tradition, yet fast-paced and growing. The area lies at the forefront of innovative high technology industries, research and development, medicine, education, and commerce.

Boston’s skyline is a testimony to Massachusetts’s economic growth and health. The region’s business climate supports a wide range of successful enterprises: from current Fortune 500 leaders to emerging firms capitalizing on technologies of the future. Many of the nation’s largest corporations as well as foreign companies are located in Boston.

The Boston and Cambridge area is known worldwide for extraordinary richness of its educational institutions and intellectual resources. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) located in Cambridge is one of the world's leading research institutions in science and technology. Other prestigious educational institutions include Harvard University, The University of Massachusetts, Boston College, Southeastern Massachusetts University, Radcliffe College, Boston University, Tufts University, and Wellesley College.

Transportation

Chances are you’ve heard Boston referred to as “the walking city”. Walking, however, is not the only mode of transportation in Boston. Public transportation in Boston offers several options to get around the city including the subway MBTA, buses, and taxis. Even those who arrive into Logan International Airport will find public transportation to be a very convenient way to get into the city and surrounding areas. On a nice day, you may even want to use a bicycle to get around. And, believe it or not, you can actually tour Boston by boat, too! On the other hand, if you prefer to drive and have your own car, chances are, you'll need to know about parking or vanpooling in the city.


Weather

Spring is at its peak in New England from April until the middle of June. This time of year the temperature varies a good deal but typically offers mid 60 degree days followed by brisk evenings. The spring offers some of the best travel values in the New England countryside. Shopping, museums, bike riding, horseback riding are many of the popular activities this time of year.
